Squint is an eye disorder in which the left and right are not properly aligned. This misalignment makes the left eye and right eyes point in different directions. It is one of the most common problems seen in children. Squint may also appear at a later stage of the child’s growth and development. The misalignment of the eyes can be permanent or temporary.
It is important to have the Squint treated by expert eye doctors at right time. If left untreated at the correct time, Squint can lead to Amblyopia, a serious eye condition which eventually leads to permanent loss of vision or blindness. The treatment for Squint eyes varies from patient to patient as there are different types of Squint.
At Delhi Eye Centre, we have the right expertise in managing and treating Squint Cases in children of all age groups. The trained professional team of children’s eye doctors use the following steps –
- The type of squint is evaluated in an accurate manner by our Squint Eye Specialists.
- Once the squint type is diagnosed, the proper treatment is suggested.
- In some Squint cases the right eyeglasses are prescribed for treatment.
- However in some other advanced cases, surgical option for correction becomes necessary.
Parents and guardians should note that any delay in correct treatment can lead to permanent vision loss or blindness due to Amblyopia. In Amblyopia, the child’s brain starts ignoring the images from the squint eye which leads to permanent weakening of eye and subsequent loss of vision or blindness.
